Our first virtual workshops
On 2 June more than 50 participants from local water utilities, co-regulators, the private sector and other stakeholders joined our first set of virtual workshops to
co-develop a ‘Roadmap to an Improved Regulatory Framework’. The Roadmap will set out our shared understanding, objectives, roles and responsibilities for an improved regulatory framework. As well as identifying how the Town Water Risk Reduction Program team and stakeholders can work together to make these improvements.
The workshops followed more than 20 in-depth, pre-workshop interviews with key stakeholders and went on to discuss what an improved regulatory framework would look like, what the roadblock are to get there, and how to overcome them.
The workshops facilitated discussions on many important issues, including:
- how to make strategic planning (IWCM strategies) work better, including focusing on outcomes, sharing data and the integration of state, regional and local planning
- delivering services to meet customer and community expectations, and funding those services
- improving the government’s own processes and ensuring clarity of objectives, consistency, timeliness, transparency and accountability
- improving coordination between government regulators and agencies.
Thanks to all the participants for working with us and to our facilitators. The next set of virtual workshops will be held on 15 June and we will continue to work with you to co-develop a “Roadmap to an Improved Regulatory Framework. We will share a draft version of the Roadmap at the regional face to face workshops for your feedback and further discussion.
